Madhavan Nampoothiri has more than a decade’s experience in the Energy industry (Oil & Gas and Renewables) and has been part of the Indian solar sector since the launch of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission. Madhavan has worked with multiple companies across the entire solar value chain including Project Development, EPC, Manufacturing, Financing, Off-grid PV and Policy & Regulations. Some of the entities with which he has worked include the World Bank and Tata Power Solar, among others.
Madhavan’s opinions have appeared in international media like the New York Times, Bloomberg, Green Tech Media and national media like Economic Times, The Hindu Business Line and Times of India. He is regularly invited to speak at international conferences on renewable energy in India and abroad.
Madhavan has an MBA from Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, USA and Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from M.S. University,India. Madhavan has lived and worked in China, USA and Switzerland.
Bhoo, also the CEO of Aspiration Energy, is a successful serial entrepreneur, having founded and scaled several companies in different areas including Cleantech, IT Services and Media.
In 2009,Bhoo founded Aspiration Energy which was one of the pioneers in the then nascent Solar sector. Incubated at Indian Institute of Management(IIM), Ahmedabad’s Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship(CIIE), Aspiration Energy’s innovative solutions in the solar sector have earned it awards from various quarters including from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy(MNRE), Confederation of Indian Industry(CII), WWF and Parivartan.
Aspire Systems, an IT Services firm which he co-founded in 1996, is today one of the fastest growing firms with presence in USA, Europe and Asia. He currently serves as one of its Directors of the Board. Prior to founding Aspire, Bhoo played a role in helping Larsen & Toubro, establish a successful market presence in plastic injection molding machines.
He has an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pondicherry University, India. He is also a certified PV designer. Bhoo speaks at various conferences and during his spare time, he mentors startups.
Kannan Narayanaswamy, Partner & Mentor
Kannan has over two decades experience in funding, investing, incubating and starting small industry. He was among the first to raise venture capital funds for the Indian IT industry way back in 1992, as part of Creditcapital Venture Fund (India) Ltd. (CVF) in Delhi & Bangalore. CVF was part of the Lazards Creditcapital Investment Banking Group, an associate of Lazards in India. Kannan subsequently helped create a start-up VC Fund, the Sterling Technology & Venture Corporation (STVC). His last corporate assignment was with Polaris Software Lab. Ltd (6 years), handling a suite of Risk Management Products for the banking and the financial services sector and rose to a position of Vice President; He handled M&As, divestitures, incubations as well as internal process monitoring. Kannan incubated a technology company, as an interim CEO, in a telecom software product development start-up, a Joint Venture of Polaris and the TeNet Group of IIT Madras.
Kannan was a regular contributor to industry magazines like Dataquest, a leading computer fortnightly from Cyber Media Ltd.; and Business Line, a business newspaper from the house of The Hindu, Madras, addressing issues in the Indian software industry. He regularly conducts seminars on Venture Capital for banks, financial institutions and in Business Schools/Universities. Kannan is a visiting Professor, IIM Ahmedabad, teaching Venture Capital and Private Equity courses and currently advises startups on scale-up and VCs in value investing.
Kannan secured MBA and BA degrees from Osmania University, Hyderabad.
